SBC 2024-2025 Member Events

The guiding theme for the Sunday Breakfast Club's 2024-25 season is "It's a Big Deal: ..."   This year, we're exploring big issues that are influencing the region's present and are likely to shape its future.

A little peak into our season thus far:

  • In September, we explored the issues surrounding the integrity of the 2024 election with Lauren Cristella of the Committee of Seventy and Amy Widestrom of the Pennsylvania League of Women Voters.  Read more.

  • In November, we enjoyed a look at some of the ground-breaking research being done in the region's eds/meds sector, with Dr. Roy Hamiltion on brain stimulation, Dr. Alyssa Stark on biomimicry, and Dr. Bon Ku on how user-focused design principles might revolutionize health-care delivery. Read more.

  • In December, we held a holiday gathering for members at the offices of Think Co. in Center City. Chris Satullo, the club’s longtime program chair who is stepping down after this season, was honored.

And an overview of our remaining programs:

  • Jan. 15: On Zoom we will have a chat with Holly Otterbein, Philly-based national political reporter for Politico, on why Pennsylvania went red this time and what to expect in the coming year

  • Feb. 5: Hosted at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Independence Mall. Topic: Immigration. Panelists confirmed: Anuj Gupta, president and CEO of the Welcoming Center for New Philadelphians, and Exequiel Hernandez, Wharton School professor who just published a book titled The Truth about Immigration.

  • March 5: Hosted at Fitler Club. We have invited Gov. Josh Shapiro or a member of his cabinet to discuss the state’s innovation agenda.

  • April 2: Back at the Fitler Club. The topic will be climate change and building a more resilient Philadelphia.

  • May 7: Returning to the Mann Center, we will focus on the regional housing outlook, with guest emcee Eric March of WHYY

All Club events except the January program on Zoom include a networking period with open bar and a dinner buffet.

Club members are granted one free guest pass per season.  Otherwise, they may bring guests at $150 per guest to any event not explicitly designated as "members only."
